Back in late 2020 we introduced Living Documentation to solve our customers' need to publish test results back to Jira. This allowed them to use Cucumber (Java, JS or Ruby) or SpecFlow, to create living documentation on stories in Jira using test automation results published from CI/CD pipelines.
We always actively seek feedback and I'm pleased to say we have now delivered a major update to how test results are displayed based on the feedback we have received:
You can now see previous test results while you are waiting for the latest test results to be published
Results overviews and summaries are now available on the Requirements page and on Jira issues
Feature test result status clearly indicated on Feature cards
A clear set of icons to indicate test results.
Let’s look at the changes in a bit more detail
We’re now exposing feature test results directly to the Requirements cards so you can see a consolidated status across all the contained Scenarios, without having to navigate through each individual feature to identify if there is a problem or not.
We’ve also added a new results summary overview to the Requirements page, which displays result stats across the whole project, providing the immediate project state without having to locate individual Scenarios.
The overview also provides results on a feature basis too, simply navigate into a feature and you can view result stats for that particular feature.
Now it’s easier than ever to locate test failures on an Issue, particularly if you’re using feature branching. Our new failed results button can quickly let you know if there is a Scenario failing that is associated with the current Issue, and also Scenarios that are not (regression tests).
While implementing the new features already mentioned we’ve been listening to our customers that have been trying out Living Documentation, and as a result have made several improvements to the Scenario level results, adding status icons, accessibility tooltips and current/outdated badges.
